Chunky and distinctive.
This former light rail bridge is heavily engineered and has thus endured, despite being in a demanding section of the tidal estuary at Fremington Quay, Devon.
It has now been kindly resurfaced appropriately for walkers and cyclists and had the rust scoured back with heavy-duty equipment before its fresh lick of paint.
It was vital at the time (whenever that was) to make a secure rail link over the estuary for the thriving port that was Fremington Quay.
I’d love to know when it was built and who the engineer was….any ideas?
Park for free and visit the heritage centre there as well. The question is though, will you spot the limekiln?!
