Norfolk’s tallest Tower Mill is being backed by a group of industrial heritage champions to convert it into The National Millwrighting Centre!

To deliver this vital project, to secure the future of Sutton Mill and to create the Academy to train millers and millwrights, they need to raise £500,000.00.

Their Vision is to purchase and then restore the Grade 2* listed Sutton Mill and Granary to create a base for the Academy from which to train millers and millwrights in the crafts of stoneground milling and traditional millwrighting.

To fund the training programmes and to enable the public to engage with project, we will also build a Heritage Centre at Sutton Mill comprising exhibition space, a bakery, cafe and shop where people can tour the commercial windmill, artisan bakery and millwrights workshops, seeing the millwrights in action.

The project is being delivered by the National Millwrighting Centre CIC, a not for profit Community Interest Company set up to delivery this project which is of national as well as regional importance. The project is supported by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) and North Norfolk District Council.

“We have until the 31st March 2018 to try and raise £150,000 to enable us to bid for Sutton Mill and start the project to create the National Milling & Millwrighting Centre.”

We ask you to make a pledge to donate a sum of your choice by completing the PLEDGE FORM. If our offer on the site is accepted, we will contact you to ask you to pay the money you have pledged. If we are unsuccessful in purchasing the site, you will not be asked to make payment.

In addition to the £1/2 Million Grant from the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) and loan offered by North Norfolk District Council, we’ve already raised donations of over £60,000.00 which is a fantastic start, but we need to raise significantly more in order to purchase the site.
