Opened in 1964, Strumpshaw Hall Steam Museum started out as a private collection of engines.
Now, we are all invited and they have steam engines galore, a 100-ton working beam engine, a narrow gauge railway, a 1930s fairground ark and oodles of memorabilia.
The beam engine was salvaged from Addington Well Pumping Station and is now operated by compressed air.
We’re talking Robey and Co, Aveling and Porter, Foden, Burrell and Fowlers – Ruston Proctors, Wallis and Steevens’, Ransome, Sims and Jefferies!
They also have a café and gift shop, so day out – sorted!
Very reasonable entry fees, but not open all year round. Be sure to check out their website for visiting info HERE!
