The Sudbrook Severn Tunnel Pumping Station is the massive pumping station that once housed six 70″ Cornish pumping engines to keep the Severn Rail Tunnel clear of water.

It is visible from the M4 as you drive up to the second River Severn road crossing.

The steam engines of the Sudbrook Severn Tunnel Pumping Station were scrapped in 1968 to be replaced by electric motors, but you can see the beam of one of the engines outside the Swansea Museum.

Check out a video of the tunnel – HERE!
