Whissendine Windmill is a commercially working tower mill producing around 2 tons of flour a week!

It’s a 6-storey, 4-sail windmill – built in 1809 to replace an even earlier windmill!

Whissendine Windmill worked until 1922, when wrecked by a storm. Thankfully, it was bought by Nigel Moon in 1995 after 70 years of demise. Whissendine got the viw treatment and now once more turns on all four sails.

The mill contains a smutter, four pairs of stones, a Wegmann roller mill dated 1877, two reels and a wire machine!

The Mill works all year round producing bread and pastry flours, spelt and barley flours, ryemeal and oatmeal. Visitors are welcome and you can go home with some speciality flour of your very own!
