Horning Ferry Windmill is a smock mill windpump formerly used for drainage in Horning, Norfolk.

It was converted to holiday home which changed its appearance somewhat!

The once elegant windpump at Horning Ferry was converted in the 1930s into a 3 bedroom holiday home. The elegant slim tower is now surrounded by rooms at ground level and the tower flared out to form the roof that covers those rooms. The accommodation is all on the ground level, with ladder access to a first floor room in the body of the mill, and from there out via a glazed door to a riverside veranda. The building is now painted white.

Although a fairly realistic fantail is present (with its unusual count of 7 blades), apparently the new sails bear no relation to the sails that once worked the mill.

The Horning Ferry Windmill is octagonal and has 3 storeys. It now stands on an octagonal weatherboarded house of one storey. All of the exterior is entirely false and late 20th century, however, the original structure remains inside. The cap, frame and centring wheels are intact, but the upright shaft and turbine pump are missing.

This beast is included for its rarity value as a smock mill.
