Lakeside Steam Railway connects Haverthwaite to Lakeside at the fringe of Lake Windermere, travelling through the scenic Cumbrian countryside.

The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway (L&HR) is a glorious 3.2-mile-long (5.1 km) heritage railway.

This section opened in 1869 and was active right through until 1965, so nearly 100 years!

Make the steam train ride a treat on a fun-filled day – a short walk from Haverthwaite Station is the Lakeland Motor Museum. It has a mighty fine collection of automobilia or just walk and soak up the impressive environs.
