Scott Street Bridge in Hull is a lifting road bridge spanning the River Hull.
It is grade II listed.
The Scott Street Bridge was constructed between 1901 and 1902 by City Engineer. The mechanism was renewed in the late 20th century. Although described in the Historic England listing as being operable, it appears that the leaves are held permanently open and the bridge is not open to road traffic.
It consists of two riveted wrought-iron spans forming a shallow segmental arch, with patterned wrought-iron handrails to the footways on each side.
At each end it has a pair of brick piers – 3 of them with the stumps of cast-iron gas lamps!
At the west end, on the north side, it has a wooden post with a bell atop!
Amazingly, although it is called the Scott Street Bridge, it seems to be on Jenning Street in Hull!
Jenning Street, Hull, Yorkshire
