Britain’s most northerly located lighthouse!
First lit on 1 January 1858, it stands 64 feet (20 m) high, has 103 steps to the top!
It was originally called North Unst Lighthouse, (renamed in 1964) and was built originally to protect ships during the Crimean War.
Muckle Flugga was built by brothers David and Thomas Stevenson, sons of Robert Stevenson on the uninhabited Shetland Island of Muckle Flugga.
Robert Stevenson built 15 lighthouses and 6 bridges in and around Scotland during his awesome career.
This one is probably not on the visiting agenda, so directions are rather useless!
